Every
four years, the
National Council
of the Boy
Scouts of
America
organizes the
ultimate Boy
Scout
experience, the
National
Jamboree! It is
a National
encampment that
brings together
Boy Scouts,
Varsity Scouts,
and adult
leaders from
throughout the
country, along
with visiting
Scouts from
other parts of
the world. The
BSA announced
that the next
Jamboree is
scheduled in
2010 to coincide
with the 100th
birthday
(centennial
anniversary) of
the Boy Scouts
of America!
Yes, it will
have been 100
years since an
Unkown Scout
helped an
American
businessman,
William D.
Boyce, find his
way through
London.
This simple,
selfless act led
Mr. Boyce to
bring the
fledgling
movement of Boy
Scouting to
America in 1910 |

In
2005 over 40,000
Scouts and
Scouters
attended the
Jamboree, and
all the
excitement of
past Jamborees
will be
incorporated
with new themes
and shows. It
will be an
experience of a
lifetime and one
you won't want
to miss. Imagine
10 days of fun
and
activities-all
day long
everyday plus
some spectacular
arena/stage
shows with great
entertainment,
and the
opportunity to
tour some of our
country's
historic past.
Start making
plans now for
your Scouts to
attend the 2010
National
Jamboree. |

It
will be an
exciting time
for Scouts as
the National
Scout Jamboree
approaches. The
2010 jamboree in
Caroline County,
Virginia, marks
the 18th time
the Boy Scouts
of America has
gathered for
this national
celebration of
Scouting. The
jamboree site
will once again
be at Fort A.P.
Hill utilizing
some 12,000 of
the 76,000 acres
of this military
base. The year
2010 will also
mark the
centennial
celebration for
Boy Scouts
coming to the
United States,
which can only
add to the
experience.
Needless to say,
I too am caught
up in this same
excitement.
With this in
mind what is the
purpose of a
National
Jamboree? |
