OUR DISTRICT'S 2009 ANNUAL POPCORN KICK-OFF
MEETING |

Ladies and Gentlemen! Boys and Girls! Guys and Gals! Once again, the Long Cane District, in cooperation with the Blue Ridge Council, Boy Scouts of America; will be selling the very famous Trail's End Popcorn, made by the Weaver Popcorn Company of Indiana. The Weaver Popcorn Company is the number one popcorn producing company in the United States.
The annual Popcorn Kick-Off Meeting this year was held at Main Street United Methodist Church on Tuesday, August 25, 2009 . There were representatives from almost EVERY participating Cub Scout Pack, Boy Scout Troop, Varsity Team, Venture Crew, and Explorer Post in the Long Cane District attending this very important meeting. By having your unit's Popcorn Representative (Unit Kernel) in attendance, your unit will receive an additional 2% profit on the base commission of 30%. If your unit successfully completes the other requirements (which will be discussed at the meeting); your unit will receive a total of 33% or 36% profit from the sale of the unit's Popcorn Fundraiser for this year. |

Once again, Council Popcorn Staff Advisor Paul Sharp conducted this important fundraising event. District Executive Andrew Reale and District Chairman Isaac Shaffer was also on hand to help answer your questions regarding this year's Trail's End Popcorn Fundraising program. Once again, our District Trail's End Popcorn Fundraising Chairman (District Popcorn Kernel) is Chris Dunford. Paul Sharp, the Professional Scouter Advisor for the Blue Ridge Council's Trail's End Popcorn Fundraising Program and Council Popcorn Chair and Scouter Volunteer Kathy Cassidy conducted the Popcorn Rally. |

The Long Cane District was pleased to have 54 concerned Scouters, Scouts, and Parents in attendance for this very important meeting. Everyone got to enjoy Trail's End Popcorn, including their newest entry for this year --- Trail Mix!!! Paul and Kathy were able to provide everyone with information about the various products and the new "SUPPORT THE MILITARY" option in this year's popcorn fundraising program. Paul Sharp went on to explain the various ways in which a Scout may sell popcorn, including the SHOW and SELL method, a very popular way to sell Trail's End popcorn in our district! |

Paul and Kathy went on to discuss the CLEMSON DAY / CAROLINA DAY program, which will be in February, 2009. There will be special prize drawings for those Scouts who have faxed their completed "FILL-IT-UP" forms to him at the Blue Ridge Council Service Center office. |
